Our story
Hello from Nikki and Michaela! We’re sisters based on Gadigal land in Bondi Beach, Australia, who started our @lifeisshort.diamonds Instagram account back in January 2015.
That year we met a celebrated Sydney antique jewellery dealer, Karen Deakin, and Nikki began photographing her jewels for Insta, before launching Karen’s website (which she still maintains). Nikki wrote about this unexpected late-life apprenticeship in a 2018 article for the Guardian.
In December 2024 Karen semi-retired, closing her Sydney store. It was time for a new challenge – and lifeisshortdiamonds.com was born …
